SINGAPORE. 2024, the Year of the Dragon

With the collaboration of B. Kwee

The ‘Year of the Dragon’ is the fifth issue in Singapore Post’s annual series of eSAM-type variable value stamps dedicated to the Chinese zodiac.

Following on from the first design, which introduced the series (see article, published in VARIABLE 51), further issues were released in 2020 dedicated to the Year of the Rat (article and VARIABLE 56), in 2021 the Year of the Ox (article and VARIABLE 60), in 2022 the Year of the Tiger (article and VARIABLE 64) & in 2023 the Year of the Rabbit (article).

As in previous years, this new design for the eSAM kiosks was released in conjunction with a set of two ‘traditional’ stamps, together with various associated philatelic products, all issued on January 5th 2024. The stamps were designed by local artist Lim An-ling.
The two stamps are for the basic postage rates for domestic priority or Standard mail up to 500g (1st Local) and local mail for small packages up to 2kg or ‘Letterbox’ ($2).
