The 2024 Salon Philatélique d’Automne is likely to be the last to be held at the Espace Champerret in Paris.
Indeed, after 37 years at this exhibition centre, the Chambre syndicale française des Négociants et Experts en Philatélie (CNEP) could well move the Salon d’Automne to another venue on the outskirts of the capital, with a less expensive rent and more convenient access.
We have been publishing reviews and articles on all the Salons d’Automne held since 2005 on our previous website, the VARIABLE publications, and on this particular website since 2023. This allows you to see how this major philatelic event has evolved over time … an event which has become increasingly less popular.
Each year there are fewer visitors and the event has been reduced from four to three days. The organisers have tried to adapt to these changing circumstances, but without much success. Philaposte supports the event with official presentations/promotions of stamps, with various personalities attending the show, and by selling the exclusive and reduced print runs of issues released especially for this event. Unfortunately it only manages to attract visitors during the morning of the first day. The number of visitors is very low on the following days, and during certain periods the Salon seems deserted …
