Many of us remember with nostalgia the great Philexfrance of 1989 and 1999, and more recently, the Salon du Timbre and Planète Timbres held between 2004 and 2014, which lasted some 10 days and with more than 100,000 visitors on occasions. The biennial Paris-Philex follows in the footsteps of these major stamp events, although clearly adapted to the current trends in philately. For the Paris-Philex 2024, which occupied an area equivalent to 10% of those earlier large exhibitions, the organisation had made very optimistic forecasts of about 15,000 visitors during the three days of the event, some 5,000 less than in 2022 … and even then it was unlikely that this figure would be reached. Still, the Paris-Philex remains one of the largest philatelic events in Europe.
