Even with the country in a state of shock and war following the attack a few weeks earlier (…) Israel Post continued with its philatelic releases and, in particular, the traditional annual issue of variable value stamps for the Christmas season at the end of November, ‘Seasonal Greetings from the Holy Land’.
The design of the variable value stamp, is of an illustration depicting a family decorating a Christmas tree full of presents. The stamp, associated cover and first day postmark (below), are by Anis Kadis, who also designed the 2022 Christmas issue (see article, published in VARIABLE 67).
Israel Post released this festive issue on November 26th 2023. Like previous Christmas variable value stamp issues, this design was available with three different codes – 00001 printed by the back office equipment used by the philatelic service, plus codes 00101 and 00987 from the aCon SPU STAMP postal kiosks installed at the Jerusalem and Nazareth main post offices, respectively.
