SINGAPORE. 2024, the ‘Otters’ definitive issue

With the collaboration of B. Kwee

Since 2017, Singapore Post has released one or two label designs annually for its SAM postal kiosks, although in all cases these are commemorative-type, printed in limited quantities, and available from a few machines while stocks last. The remaining SAM kiosks, (which in 2018 numbered 300 machines spread across the island), issue variable value stamps with the ‘Singapore skyline’ definitive design, introduced in March 2017 (see article, published in VARIABLE 44).

After seven years with this same design, Singapore Post decided to release a new definitive issue in 2024. The new design depicts an image of a group of otters with the city skyline in the background consisting of some of the most emblematic buildings of Marina Bay such as the giant trees and greenhouses from Gardens by the Bay, the Marina Bay Sands Hotel, the ArtScience Museum, and the Singapore Flyer (Ferris) wheel.
