At the end of 2020, a year marked by the global coronavirus pandemic, Correos launched ‘Filatelia y Salud’ (Philately and Health), a touring exhibition jointly organised with the Hospital Universitario 12 de Octubre and with the collaboration and support of the cultural company Rocaviva Eventos.
The exhibition, comprising 18 information panels and 17 display cases containing national and international philatelic and numismatic material, shows how philately has represented the factors that influence health; the important role of nursing, and the advances in medicine throughout history, from Classical Greece to the present day emergence of the pandemic.
This exhibition was initially set up at the Hospital Universitario 12 de Octubre in Madrid on December 17th 2020, then at the Faculty of Medicine of the Complutense University of Madrid, and at the Faculty of Medicine of Zaragoza between March and June 2022.
Following on from Zaragoza, the exhibits were once again on display at the Estación de la Ciencia y la Tecnología in Burgos from November 28th 2022 until February 5th 2023. Just a few days before the closure of the exhibition, on January 31st, the Correos philatelic service set up a temporary stand or post office in this cultural location, at which the new design of the ATM stamp ‘Día Internacional de la Paz y la No Violencia‘ (International Day of Peace and Non-violence) was officially released with a special imprint.
